How to Make Perfect Basmati Brown Rice in Your Instant Pot Using the Pot-in-Pot Method

Ingredients

Brown Basmati Rice (or regular brown rice)

Water or Broth

Ratio of Rice to Liquid – 1:1.25 (for example: 1 cup of rice to 1¼ cups of liquid)

Directions

Rinse the rice well.

Place 1 cup of water in the bottom of the inner liner of your Instant Pot and place the trivet in the pot. (Note: use 2 cups of water if you’re using an 8-quart Instant Pot)

Place the rice and liquid in an oven-proof dish and place on top of trivet.

Close and lock the lid ensuring the Pressure Valve is in the Sealing position.

Select Press Cook (Manual on some pots) and set the cooking time for 22 minutes.

Once cooking time is complete, allow at least a 10 minute NPR (Natural Pressure Release) before releasing the rest of the pressure.

Note: even with a full NPR, you’ll still get perfect rice.

Carefully open the Instant pot, remove the rice, fluff with a fork and serve with your favorite dish.
